Because the shop operates solely by appointment, the waiting area is very small. So, while guests are welcome, please limit the number of guests you bring along. NO CHILDREN IN THE SHOP, NO EXCEPTIONS. The distraction is unfair to the artist and client, and a tattoo shop is not a safe place for a child.
NO ONE UNDER 18 CAN BE TATTOOED IN NEW YORK STATE. No exceptions, not even with a parent present. There are absolutely no exceptions to this law. If you find a shop who will consider it, then just imagine how many other laws and rules of cleanliness they might be breaking. Wait until you are 18 - it isn't worth the risk.
IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE LATE OR CANNOT MAKE YOUR APPOINTMENT, YOU MUST GIVE 72 HOURS NOTICE OR YOU WILL FORFEIT YOUR DEPOSIT. Too many people make appointments and then treat them as optional, meanwhile, an artist has set side much time, and likely denied appointments to others to accommodate the appointment you've made. If you do not show for an appointment, you will not be considered for another one. Ever. Please do not make an appointment unless you intend to show up.
Ms. Fabulous accepts CASH ONLY, unless PRIOR arrangements have been made. Large pieces can be broken up into sessions, and so can the payments for these.
Every customer receives quality service, which means Ms. Fabulous will never rush through a tattoo (unless you are being a real jerk LOL) so when you arrive for your scheduled appointment, she may still be working on another client. When possible, she'll call to let you know she's running behind, but that isn't always easy to do in a timely manner when she's engrossed in a job. Please be patient and allow enough time. She will treat your tattoo with the same respect and importance as the client before you (again, unless you're being a real jerk LOL) so your wait will be well worth it if there are any delays.
All types of tattoos are welcome and treated the same, from little roses and hearts to large back pieces, and everything in between WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ANY HATE OR GANG RELATED MATERIAL. This means no swastikas, gang insignia, or anything that otherwise depicts, promotes or suggests hatred toward any person, group, ethnicity, race, etc. Anything "dark" or based on fringe religions (pentagrams, devils, mythical beasts, etc.) is acceptable, provided it is not hate related (like a devil with a swastika) or symbolic of a known hate group. Since this can be a grey area, send an email with any ideas or questions about this. Frankly, no one (to date) has come to her asking for a design that she wouldn't do.
An artist can only do their best to estimate how long a tattoo will take. It's dependent on many factors. Please set up a time when you have some leeway to spend more (or less) time. Planning, drawing and preparation can take time. Often, the more ideas are tossed around by artist and client, the better the end result, so do yourself a favor and pick a time that gives you some room, and even better, plan a consultation first. On the other hand, many times if you know what you want, the design is easy to prepare, you sit well and your skin takes ink easily, you might be surprised at just how quickly your tattoo is completed. While Ms. Fabulous never rushes, she's no slowpoke either. She is very quick (and light) handed and was initially trained in a high volume shop where the owner demanded speed. She now works at her own pace, but likes to have plenty of time for extra details, like improving the linework and highlighting and blending colors or ensuring that tribal piece is solid black.
Consultations are welcomed, encouraged, and free. If you're not sure what you want, have an idea you can't quite explain, want a combination of things or just to look through the artwork in the shop, please call and you can come in during working hours. This is especially wise for cover-ups and re-works. If a custom design is desired, the artist may ask for a NON-REFUNDABLE art deposit. This deposit counts toward your tattoo and comes off the total price, even if you decide upon a different design. The point of the art deposit is to ensure that she does not spend hours working on a design for a client who show up for their appointment.
Working hours are mostly on Saturday, after 5pm, Sundays and Mondays, from Noon to 10:00 PM, with some exceptions for weeknight evenings. No daytime appointments from Tuesday-Friday available.
